Adam and Mindy invited us to spend a relaxing weekend with them and Spencer at Strawberry Reservoir. Matt and Emmy's little family came up too. Relaxing it was!!! It was the most relaxing camping trip I have been on in a long time. We spent the days fishin and chillin at camp. The weather was perfect! I don't think it ever got over 72.
Highlights include...seeing Thomas the train in Heber! We stopped for a couple of hours to take pictures with Thomas and wander the play zone and petting zoo. The kids loved it!
Another highlight...catching crawdads. A first for me. Picture this, you take a raw chicken drumstick, tie a thin rope around it, toss it into the water and wait for a crawdad to latch on. Then you simply lift out the chicken and the crawdad comes too. We did learn it worked better to find a crawdad and toss the chicken at it versus waiting for the crawdads to find the chicken. We had a blast chillin on the rocky shore and catching crawdads. Em loved to pet them. Don't worry we kept the pinchers well away from her little fingers. FYI I think they taste like lobster..ewww!
One more highlight for ya...canoeing!! Me and Dave realized we haven't had the canoe out since our canoeing trip to Yellowstone a few years ago, way to long!! Emma looooved the canoe! Howie even warmed up to it and seemed to enjoy the ride. The water was beautiful!
What a great weekend. We did cut it a little bit short, coming home Sat. night so Dave could get plenty of sleep before teaching primary and heading to work. Hands down, I love Strawberry!
